School of Nancy.

The son of a cabinetmaker and ceramicist, Louis Majorelle became a student (of Millet, according to the Larousse of the 20th century) at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1877.

From 1888 the decorative arts underwent a period of revitalisation in Lorraine under the
