Jean Marembert began exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants in Paris in 1929. He belonged to the group gathered round Louis Cattiaux at the Galerie Gravitations, and which published the Transhyliste manifesto. The group superficially associated itself with Surrealism, and in particular borrowed the repertoire of
