Marret was a pupil of Fernand Cormon, Jacques Humbert and Eugène Thirion. He produced monumental canvases and also frescoes for public monuments, notably at the Musée du Prieuré in St-Germain-en-Laye, École des Arts et Métiers in Paris and at the church of St-Louis
