Lidia Masterkova studied at the Surikov art institute in Moscow. She was the wife of the artist Vladimir Nemukhin. In Moscow she took part in the 1974 open-air exhibition which came to be known as the Bulldozer exhibition because of the injuries sustained by the artists when soldiers attacked them
