[not available online]Paul Mathey was taught by Léon Cogniet, Pils, Mazerolle and Oury and made his debut at the 1868 Salon de Paris. He won a third-place medal in 1876, second place in 1885 as well as the gold medal at the 1889 Exposition Universelle.
