Born 3 July 1805, in Brest (Finistère); died 1880 or 22 September 1890, in Brest.

Painter (gouache), draughtsman. Landscapes, seascapes.

Mayer featured at the Salon from 1824 to 1869 and won a third-class medal in 1836. He visited Holland, Sweden and Norway. He was made a Chevalier of the Légion d'Honneur on 29 January 1839 and an officer in 1867.
