Karl Mediz studied at theAkademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna and at the Académie Julian in Paris, and painted in a style derived from both Symbolism and Art Nouveau. He and his wife, Emilie Mediz-Pelikan, exhibited together at the first Secession Salon in Vienna
