Michel-Levy studied under Barrias and Antoine Vollon. From 1868 to 1886, he exhibited at the Salon in Paris, where he was awarded an honourable mention in 1880 and a third-class medal in 1881. In 1889, he won a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle.
