Born 27 April 1642, baptised in Antwerp; died, buried 3 June 1679 in Paris, in 1680 according to some sources.

Jean François Millet's mother was Flemish, and his father a Frenchman, Pierre Millé from Dijon. The artist studied under Laurens Francken in Antwerp, travelled to Paris with him in 1659, and married his sister. In Paris he studied perspective
