Born 1824, in Tours; died 26 December 1911, in La Source, Macé, commune of St-Denis-sur-Loire.

Painter, pastellist. Religious subjects, genre scenes, portraits.

Alphonse Muraton studied at the École de Dessin, Tours, and then under Michel Drolling. In 1841 he enrolled at the École Royale des Beaux-Arts, Paris. He also worked for the Spanish royal family.
