Edouard Félicien Eugène Navellier was the son of the engraver Narcisse Navellier and great-nephew of the sculptor François Jouffroy. He was a pupil of François Truphème, Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin-Constant. When he gave up painting for sculpture he exhibited his work regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français in Paris. He
