Louis Henri Nicot studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Rennes followed by the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he won the Prix Chenavard twice and many medals.

He was a Breton and took his inspiration from the example of Michel Colombe, the favourite sculptor
