Born 17 June 1833, in Puerto Rico; died 1917.

Painter. Figures, genre scenes, landscapes, still-lifes.

After two years of studies in Madrid, Francisco Oller y Cestero went to Paris in 1855, where he studied under Thomas Couture and Gustave Courbet. He associated mainly with the Impressionists.

He soon abandoned his naturalistic style to move towards a luminous form of painting,
