Ferdinand Wilhelm Pauwels was a pupil of Wappers and Keyser. He went to Italy and stayed there until 1855. He was a professor in Weimar from 1862 to 1872. From 1876 he was in Dresden. He worked for the town hall in Ypres. He painted
