Renier Persyn was a pupil of Cornelis Bloemaert the Younger and Jacob Matham. He worked for the Giustiniani Gallery and adopted the surname Narcissus. He married Elisabeth Dirksz. van Raemburgh in 1642. In 1656 he married Maria Crabeth, the daughter of the glass painter W. Pz-Crabeth.
