Painter. History painting, portraits, landscapes. Designs for stained glass.

Thomas Phillips studied initially in Birmingham under the glass painter Eginton. He moved to London in 1790, carrying a letter of recommendation to Benjamin West. The latter invited him to work on the windows of St George's Chapel
