Pinoncelli lived in the USA and Mexico from 1951 to 1953. His vocation as a painter emerged in Mexico when he encountered the work of Siqueiros, Orozco, Tamayo, the pre-Columbian civilisations, contemporary Mexican popular art, and, above all, funerary symbols.
In 1963, he took part in the creation of the room called l'Abattoir at the Biennale de Paris,
