Ramseyer started by studying sculpture at the École des Beaux-Arts in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and then, in 1935-1936, in the studio of Zadkine, and at the Académie Colarossi. He lived and worked in Neuchâtel. Ramseyer practised a traditional sculpture, little tainted by Expressionism, until 1954-1955. He rapidly evolved into Abstraction, with the sculpture
