George Agnew Reid studied at the Central Ontario School of Art and Design in Toronto, then at the Pennsylvania Academy, Philadelphia, under Thomas Eakins. He travelled at various times to Europe, including Paris. He worked in oil, watercolour and pastel, and is best known as a genre painter. In 1899 he became
