Born 22 February 1805, in Danzig (now Gdansk, Poland); died 7 February 1852, in Dresden.

Painter, engraver, poet.

Having first studied in Berlin with Begas, Robert Reinick went on to work in Düsseldorf from 1831 to 1838. After travelling in Italy from 1838 to 1841, he settled in Dresden. He penned the lyrics to many songs and also wrote children's books.
