Born 28 January 1880, in Galati; died 1962, in Bucharest.

Painter. Figures, nudes, portraits.

Camil Ressu studied under G.D. Mirea at Bucharest fine arts school from 1897 to 1899, with G. Popovici at the Iasi fine arts school, and in Paris with Jean-Paul Laurens. Later he became professor and then rector of the Bucharest academy.

He mainly depicted scenes from peasant life.
