Albert Dominique Roze, the son of a mechanical engineer, though of humble origin, came from an old and honourable Amiens family. He was 12 when he entered the École de Dessin, Amiens. After studying sculpture he was awarded a municipal scholarship in 1979 at the age of 18 and went to Paris, where he worked with
