Born 18 March 1866, in Saldus; died 20 December 1916, in Helsinki.

Painter, illustrator.

Rozentals studied in Riga, and at the academy of arts in St Petersburg, where he received teaching from Makovsky. He was the founder of Latvian national painting. He was also an art critic and executed lithographs.
