Lenore Tawney studied sculpture but from 1948 she turned to weaving. Her hangings combine many techniques that move away from tradition and often reach a monumental scale. For instance, the hanging that was exhibited at the Seattle World Fair in 1962 measured 27 feet (8 metres) in height. In 2001, some of her works were presented
