Samuel Vanni was a pupil at the fine arts academy in Helsinki in 1927-1928 and was also taught by the sculptor W. Aaltonen in 1930. Vanni turned to abstraction from 1948 and subsequently experimented with kinetic art in the manner of Vasarely.
