Born 17 March 1896, in Kolín, Bohemia (now Czech Republic); died 15 September 1976, in Prague.

Photographer. Landscapes, nature, still-lifes, interiors, figures, architecture, portraits.

Born in a small town in Bohemia, Josef Sudek moved to Prague in order to study bookbinding at the Royal Bohemian School of Crafts. At this time he also began to make photographs featuring Prague and the surrounding countryside.
