Village south-west of Mt Aragats, c. 16 km north-west of Ēdjmiadzin, Armenia. It was the capital of the Armenian Kamsarakan feudal lords who founded the cathedral of T‘alin (mid-7th century; see Armenia, fig.) and the church of the Mother of God (Astvatsatsin; 613–15).
