Italian painter. According to Vasari and Malvasia, he was apprenticed to Francesco Francia in Bologna between 1490 and 1495. While there is no documentary proof of this, constant aspects of Viti’s style would seem to confirm an apprenticeship in Bologna. In 1503 he was in Urbino, painting the banners of Cesare Borgia, then lord of the city. In 1504 the Montefeltro returned to Urbino, and the young painter, together with Girolamo Genga, was commissioned
