French painter. In 1977, Frize began his first series of painting in which he covered the canvases with a dense network of colored lines, using single-haired brushes normally used by seascape artists to paint the fine lines of ship’s cables. His subsequent output was characterized by a notion of constraint, alongside a marked propension to take advantage of accident, chance or even failure. Frize was interested in exploiting the possibilities of his medium. According
