American sculptor. Born and raised in Tennessee, Kinney received a scholarship to study at the Chicago Art Institute at the age of 15, where she was helped and encouraged by Lorado Taft (1860–1936). Later she taught there. While well known for her portrait statues and war memorials, it was her collaboration with her husband, Austrian sculptor Leopold F. Scholz (1877–1946), especially their re-creation of the Parthenon sculptures for Nashville, that brought her greatest fame.
