(b Moscow, 4 Jan 1969). Russian pianist. He studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Elizabeth Virsaladze. In 1987, aged 18, he won fourth prize in the Leeds International Piano Competition. A critically acclaimed Wigmore Hall recital followed in 1988, and in 1990 he won first prize at the Tchaikovsky International Competition.
