(b Algiers, 28 April 1922; d Cannes, France, c1985). French alto and baritone saxophonist. He played alto saxophone at the Algiers Hot Club, then from 1947, when he joined Hubert Rostaing, doubled on the baritone instrument. He worked with the trumpeter Maurice Mouflard (1947), Don Byas (1949), Roy Eldridge (1950), Claude Bolling (1950–52), and Nelson Williams (1953), and recorded with Clifford Brown (1953), Michel Legrand (1954–7), Lionel Hampton
