(b Norfolk, VA, c1900; d Boston, 1935). American trumpeter and arranger. He worked with the singer Amanda Randolph, then around 1925 began playing with William McKinney; he made many recordings with McKinney’s Cotton Pickers (1928–31; for illustration see Mckinney's cotton pickers [not available online]), which also recorded as the Chocolate Dandies (1928) and with Jean Goldkette (1929). Nesbitt then worked as an arranger with Fletcher Henderson and Luis
