(b Paris, 1802; d Paris, 20 Oct 1875). French set designer and scene painter. A pupil of Carlo Ciceri, he was one of the longest-serving designers at the Paris Opéra, 1833–73. At a time when productions were among the most elaborate and spectacular ever mounted at the Opéra, and up to seven designers were employed for one production, Cambon specialized in architectural settings.
