(b Jamestown, nd, 11 Feb 1945). American baritone. He studied at the Juilliard School, New York, taking part in the Callas masterclasses. He made his début in 1967 at Minneapolis as Demetrius in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In 1974 he sang Andrey in the American première of War and Peace at Boston, and made his Metropolitan début as Silvio, later singing Yevgeny Onegin, Escamillo, Guglielmo, Lescaut and Billy Budd.
