This chapter examines the protection for economic and intellectual property interests provided by tort law. It explains that there are three types of protection provided by law. The first concerns the protection granted by the general economic torts, the second comprises the protection afforded by the misrepresentation of economic torts, and the final is loosely concerned with the protection of intellectual property (and analogous) rights. This chapter also suggests that economic torts do not inhibit aggressive competition per se, but instead draw the line at excessive competition.
