This paper is concerned with the stability problem of discrete-time systems with time-varying delay in the state. By using Lyapunov method and introducing free-weighting matrices, a new delay-dependent asymptotic stability condition is established, which depends on the lower and the upper delay bounds. Furthermore, a new delay-dependent robust stability condition is obtained for discrete-time delayed systems with structured uncertainties. All the results are formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities, which are easily solved via standard numerical software and used for controller synthesis problem. Finally, two examples are worked out to illustrate the efficiency of the obtained results.
