A 25-year-old man presented with a left hemiparesis. There was a two-week history of right jaw and posterior neck pain, headache, fevers, cough, anorexia, and weight loss. A few days prior to onset of these symptoms he had had a sore throat. He had a past history of otits media, but had otherwise been healthy.
