Chapter 36 discusses motor neuron disease, which includes a spectrum of neurodegenerative disorders, of which amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is the most common and involves both upper and lower motor neurons. It also covers progressive muscular atrophy, X-linked spinobulbar atrophy, and post-polio syndrome, which involve the lower motor neurons only, as well as primary lateral sclerosis, which involves the upper motor neurons.
