Case 18 introduces an 82-year-oldman who presented to the sleep center for further management of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Medical history showed weight gain of 30 pounds across the last year, and three strokes, along with a left hemispheric lacunar infarction, Type II diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, spinal stenosis, and venous insufficiency, and medications included insulin, sitagliptin, simvastatin, metoprolol, esomeprazole, and celecoxib. He had a 30 pack-year smoking history but quit after his stroke.
