Chapter 40 introduces a 31-year-old woman who complained of amnestic binge eating at night for nearly 10 years, accompanied by feelings of intense shame and embarrassment. A medical history showed antiphospholipid antibody syndrome resulting in multiple miscarriages, gestational diabetes, and gastritis. She had developed depression and anxiety following a miscarriage several years prior and was briefly treated with alprazolam.
