Anaesthetic and interventional techniques

Show Summary Details

Preview

This chapter will focus upon specific/relevant interventional techniques such as neuraxial delivery of opioids and local anaesthetics, local anaesthetic and neurolytic peripheral nerve blocks, and direct bone tumour ablation. It should be noted that much of the available data on these techniques refers to patients with non-cancer pain (rather than cancer pain). Readers are advised to consult one of the many comprehensive textbooks on pain or palliative medicine for further details about these and other interventional techniques (Breivik et al., 2002; Doyle et al., 2004; McMahon and Koltzenburg, 2005).
