As in any area of medicine, assessment of the fetal cardiovascular system should begin with sufficient accurate information to allow a proper assessment and relevant counselling to be carried out. Aspects of the history are considered under 3 headings of information that should be available before investigation is performed and, in some cases, before referral to a fetal cardiac clinic. Much of the information should be available in maternity notes but some specific details often need clarifying....
