• Numerous medical and neurological conditions are associated with higher rates of RLS than the general population. • The exact relationship between these conditions and the RLS is not known in any case. • Well-documented associations include renal failure, systemic iron deficiency, and pregnancy. • Less well-established associations include Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, some genetic ataxias, neuropathy, and myelinopathy. • Relatively little data addresses treatment of RLS associated with these conditions, however, it is anecdotally similar to that of idiopathic RLS.
