A 74-year-old man developed three episodes of sudden-onset dysarthria over a period of 4 months, each lasting 15 minutes and resolving spontaneously. He remained well between attacks. On review in the TIA clinic, examination was unremarkable. Carotid ultrasound showed minimal stenoses and brain MRI showed minor small vessel disease only.
