An 81-year-old right-handed woman had sudden onset of right hand weakness and tingling at 10.00 which lasted for 15 minutes and then resolved completely. She experienced four further similar episodes each lasting for 15–20 minutes over the next few hours. At 18.30 she had yet another episode of right arm and leg weakness and slurred speech which persisted. She called her GP who arranged admission to hospital.
