Hypertension in pregnancy

Preview

Hypertension is one of the commonest medical problems seen during pregnancy. Hypertension during pregnancy may be pre-existing or may develop during pregnancy when it is called gestational hypertension or pregnancy-induced hypertension. Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy have a high rate of recurrence during subsequent pregnancies. Pharmacological treatment has not been shown conclusively to reduce neonatal complications. Eclampsia and pre-eclampsia are considered medical emergencies and should be carefully monitored and treated.
