A 36-year-old woman, who worked as a bank teller, was referred with an 18-month history of epigastric pain. The referring family practitioner had checked Helicobacter pylori serology, which was positive. Triple eradication therapy had been prescribed and her symptoms had settled for a while, but recurred. Serology for H. pylori was again positive. Triple therapy was again given, but symptoms persisted. She was referred for consideration of endoscopy.
