The management of the bone and mineral disorders in patients with CKD is challenging. As outlined in this chapter the management differs according to the stage of CKD, as well as the particular changes in serum biochemical and skeletal parameters. However, careful attention at an early stage of CKD to the pathophysiological principles presented here and the use of simple available therapy together with a disciplined patient will very often prevent unnecessary suffering for the patient.
