• Continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) seems more effective than multiple daily insulin injections (MDI) in obese insulin-resistant type 2 diabetic patients in poor metabolic control • Education of the patient to the adjustment of the treatment is mandatory • CSII is feasible and acceptable in the long term in type 2 diabetic patients, and improves quality of life and treatment satisfaction • More scientific evaluation is needed to determine more precisely the indications for CSII in type 2 diabetes
